We are looking for a Separation Shop Technician who shall have responsibility and accountability is the precision service, diagnostic repair, and overhaul of rotating industrial equipment, specifically high-speed and decanter centrifuges. As a critical member of the Separation Service Team, you will apply advanced mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to maintain OEM-level standards. You are expected to demonstrate a passion for technical excellence, rigorous time management, and a commitment to maintaining a pristine and organized workshop environment. Operating within our Scarborough Service Centre as a full-time role, you will perform comprehensive millwright services as part of a specialized technical team reporting to Team Manager.

Requirements

  • Certified Journeyman Millwright or Industrial Machinist with general mechanical skills.
  • Proven track record in an industrial setting.
  • Specific experience with rotating equipment or high-speed machinery is a significant asset.
  • Proficient in the use of manual lathes, milling machine, hand grinding and other shop equipment for component reclamation.
  • A "safety-first" attitude with the ability to identify and mitigate workshop hazards.
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions independently.
  • A dynamic, goal-oriented, and results-driven professional with a disciplined and highly organized approach to task management.
  • Must be willing and able to accommodate overtime and flexible work hours to meet critical service deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and web-based applications for reporting and administrative tasks.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor as a representative of a global OEM.
  • Adherence to a drug and alcohol-free workplace policy.

Responsibilities

  • Precision service, diagnostic repair, and overhaul of rotating industrial equipment, specifically high-speed and decanter centrifuges.
  • Apply advanced mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to maintain OEM-level standards.
  • Demonstrate a passion for technical excellence, rigorous time management, and a commitment to maintaining a pristine and organized workshop environment.
  • Perform comprehensive millwright services as part of a specialized technical team.
  • Full lifecycle servicing of high-speed separators, decanter rotating assemblies, and gearboxes, including disassembly, industrial cleaning, repair, hand grinding, precision fitting, and balancing.
  • Cleaning of parts & components using manual high-pressure washer and automatic parts washing machine.
  • Utilizing manual lathe & milling machining skills, welding techniques & hand grinding to refurbish components to exact specifications.
  • Reading and interpreting engineered drawings and technical manuals to execute repairs within an ISO 9001 quality framework using calibrated measuring tools.
  • Operating as a safety leader within a strict HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) framework, ensuring 100% compliance with PPE requirements and safety protocols.
  • Safe operation of forklifts and overhead cranes to maneuver heavy industrial rotating assemblies.
  • Maintaining flexibility to cross-train on various equipment within the Alfa Laval product line as required.
  • Initiate tasks and manage workflow independently.
  • Collaborate closely with Service Coordinators, Service Center team and the Quality & HSE team to ensure project alignment and safety.
  • Share jobs to cover all aspects of service center activities including thermal.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings.
