About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to add a Principal / Sr. Principal - TEMPEST Engineer to its Specialty Engineering Team located in Huntsville, Alabama in support of the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This position is for a systems engineer experienced in design and testing for TEMPEST compliance. The selected candidate will be supporting efforts within the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • 3+ years’ experience using TEMPEST Specs NSTISSAM TEMPEST 1/92, CNSSAM TEMPEST 1-13, CNSSAM TEMPEST 01-02, AMSG 720B, AMSG 788A, AMSG 784, BTR:01:210, NATO SDIP-27
  • 3+ years’ experience ensuring systems and equipment meet NSTISSAM TEMPEST 1/92, CNSSAM TEMPEST 1-13, CNSSAM TEMPEST 01-02 and other TEMPEST requirements
  • 3+ years’ experience providing design guidance and recommendations on shielding, filtering, grounding; trace routing, PCB board layer stack-up, cabling, and I/O protections to facilitate compliance
  • 3+ years’ experience reviewing and maintaining TEMPEST design guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Active Top-Secret Clearance with an investigation date in the last 6 years or ability to obtain
  • Certified TEMPEST Professional Level I
  • Prior experience operating a certified TEMPEST Test Lab
  • Prior experience developing the design of and establishing a certified TEMPEST lab
  • Ability to use design simulation tools to analyze shielding performance, filter design, and identify potential vulnerabilities from schematics or board layout deficiencies
  • Experience reviewing and maintaining TEMPEST design guidelines
  • Prior experience reviewing TEMPEST Test Plans and Test Reports in accordance with the guidelines specified in NSTISSAM TEMPEST 1-92 and CNSSAM TEMPEST 01-02

Responsibilities

  • Make significant contributions to a team of engineers in TEMPEST testing and analysis
  • Conduct TEMPEST testing in accordance with NSTISSAM TEMPEST/1-92, CNSSAM TEMPEST 01-02
  • Support the program’s TEMPEST SME – representing the company and program through frequent customer interactions
  • Assist in the development of the TEMPEST Control Plan
  • Develop TEMPEST test plans and test procedures
  • Review TEMPEST testing results
  • Provide consultation on TEMPEST best practices
