A sensory scientist contributes to Starbucks' success by designing and executing research which is organized, coordinated with stakeholders, and aligned with other project researchers on the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree - sensory evaluation or product development experience in food/beverage, or behavior/psychology, preferred
  • Laboratory and equipment operation, calibration and maintenance - 3 years
  • Designing research and analyzing data using statistical software - 3 years
  • Sensory training and test execution for a food or beverage company including focus group and other qualitative testing – 3 years

Responsibilities

  • Manages projects in accordance with available Starbucks established project and program management methodologies
  • Supports pulling together and leveraging project resources such as consumers, panelists, materials and budget, with support
  • Ensure the timing, scope and resources assigned to each project is aligned with the business unit's leaders and company's goals
  • Applies knowledge, processes, skills, tools and techniques to research projects in order to meet project objectives
  • Drives to design research that is executed accurately and efficiently and aligned to the business objectives, functional area and/or company goals and strategies
