About The Position

Baker Hughes is seeking a Sensors Engineer, Product Performance Engineering – Electrical to join their Bently Nevada business. This role supports and sustains Bently Nevada sensor technologies throughout their lifecycle by performing sensor characterization, troubleshooting, testing, and engineering support activities. The engineer will ensure reliable product performance and manufacturing continuity, working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Product teams to investigate issues, improve processes, and maintain high standards of quality and performance. The position involves supporting sensor-related software tools, laboratory equipment, and reference standards, analyzing performance data, and maintaining technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting sensor products, sensor manufacturing, or instrumentation technologies.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience working in laboratory and manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Bently Nevada sensor products, including eddy-current and non-eddy-current technologies.
  • Experience supporting sensor manufacturing and production issue resolution.
  • Ability to independently select and operate sensor laboratory equipment and test systems.
  • Strong analog electronics, signal conditioning, and measurement system fundamentals.
  • Experience characterizing and evaluating sensor performance.
  • Programming experience supporting engineering tools, automation, or data analysis activities.
  • Experience applying statistical analysis and modeling techniques to engineering problems.
  • Strong technical documentation and report-writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify, prioritize, and execute technical work with minimal supervision.
  • Current work authorization in the country of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Proximity probe system expertise.
  • Experience with accelerometers, velocity sensors, or industrial instrumentation.
  • Machinery protection or condition monitoring experience.
  • Experience developing automated test systems.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, C#, LabVIEW, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience with Measurement System Analysis (MSA/GR&R).
  • Reliability and environmental testing experience.
  • Supplier qualification or component evaluation experience.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or New Technology Introduction (NTI) programs.
  • Experience with manufacturing process validation and process capability analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting Bently Nevada sensor products through characterization, testing, troubleshooting, and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Evaluating sensor performance and identifying opportunities for product and process improvements.
  • Supporting manufacturing operations by investigating production issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Conducting root cause investigations and recommending solutions for technical and product performance concerns.
  • Supporting sensor-related software tools, laboratory equipment, and reference standards used for characterization, calibration, and validation.
  • Performing laboratory testing and engineering analysis to validate sensor designs and product performance.
  • Analyzing performance data and applying statistical techniques to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Supporting process improvement initiatives that strengthen product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintaining technical documentation, engineering records, reports, and procedures.
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve technical issues and support business objectives.
