About The Position

The Vision Product Group (VPG) is a team of passionate engineers who are responsible for designing, prototyping, analyzing, and launching the next generations of new products at Apple. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to architecting Apple’s next-generation AI hardware by leading the definition of sensing system concepts for our next generation of augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) devices. Requirements

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (EE, Physics, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, CS, Applied Math)
• Experience in system design & integration for Consumer Electronics, Robotics, Autonomous Driving, Medical, or Aerospace
• Proficiency in one or more areas of sensor technology and sensor processing methodologies used in optics, camera, motion sensing
• Proficiency in statistical concepts and expertise in data analysis tools
• Detailed, disciplined, methodical approach, with good documentation habits
• Exceptional conversational & written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

Nice To Haves

• PhD degree in a relevant field (EE, Physics, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, CS, Applied Math)
• 5+ years of work experience in system design, integration, and productization in Consumer Electronics, Robotics, Medical, or Aerospace industries
• Hands-on knowledge of computer vision, signal processing, and machine learning concepts
• Know-how of 6DOF tracking, state estimation, SLAM, and calibration technologies
• Experience in using AI assistants and agents for coding, analysis, and visualization
• Experience in integrating cameras, displays, and motion sensors into consumer electronics products, with an understanding of the optics/sensor/image pipeline
• Experience with prototyping and evaluating proof of concept sensing solutions in lab and outdoor environments

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition of sensing system concepts for next-generation augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) devices.
• Explore the design space of sense constellations.
• Frame and moderate system-level trades that optimize product design in terms of size, cost, power, and performance.
• Collaborate with sensor module, hardware, product design, algorithm, and user experience teams.
