About The Position

Credit Acceptance is seeking a Senior Workforce Solutions Engineer to improve and operate enterprise workforce applications and build dependable automation and AI-enabled solutions. The role partners with product owners, service teams, and business stakeholders to identify friction, simplify workflows, favor platform-native capabilities, and deliver measurable productivity improvements. The engineer will configure platform workflows, write scripts, use supported APIs and approved low-code tools, and build reusable integrations, actions, and templates. Responsibilities include engineering conversational and self-service experiences; improving knowledge quality and permissions-aware retrieval; protecting sensitive data through least-privilege access and secure integration practices; and evaluating AI solutions for correctness, permissions, quality, and failure handling before and after release. Sensitive actions should include human approval, audit trails, and a way to suspend faulty automation. The position owns production reliability for platform capabilities and integrations, including monitoring, incident investigation, regression testing, source control, and runbooks. It also contributes to application portfolio management, engineering standards, mentoring, adoption, and roadmap recommendations. The role follows a hybrid work model with two work-from-home days and three in-office days each week at a local office. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the greater Southfield, Michigan area; greater Bellevue, Washington area; or San Francisco Bay Area, California.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience administering and engineering enterprise business applications, with a demonstrated record of shipping automation and improving business workflows.
  • Hands-on Atlassian administration and automation experience, including Jira and Confluence, plus ADP or a comparable payroll or HR platform.
  • Scripting and integration experience using Python, PL/SQL, JavaScript, REST APIs, or webhooks, including supporting integrations in production.
  • Practical experience applying generative AI or agent tools to business workflows, including evaluation, data access controls, and human oversight.
  • Experience building secure, compliant applications, including access controls and sensitive data handling for HR, payroll, and financial processes; familiarity with standards such as SOC 2.
  • Experience with incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and technical documentation for enterprise applications.
  • Practical expertise in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC), including Agile/SCRUM practices, testing, release management, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers.
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the greater Southfield, Michigan area; greater Bellevue, Washington area; or San Francisco Bay Area, California.
  • Demonstrate problem solving, learning agility, business partnership, communication, influence and leadership, and understanding of emerging technology.
  • Remain compliant with company policies, processes, and legal guidelines; attendance is required as directed by the department.

Nice To Haves

  • Atlassian or ADP certifications.
  • Experience with enterprise low-code automation, knowledge and search quality, approved AI assistants, or reusable agent tools and actions.
  • Experience exposing enterprise actions to external AI agents through governed APIs or standards such as Model Context Protocol (MCP), and experience with AI evaluation datasets.
  • Experience with license optimization, application consolidation, and integrating workforce applications with ServiceNow, identity, or collaboration platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Identify workflow friction and simplify processes before automating them, partnering with product owners, service teams, and business stakeholders to prioritize opportunities.
  • Configure platform workflows, write scripts, expose supported APIs, and use approved low-code tools to automate recurring work and deliver production solutions with clear ownership and support.
  • Engineer conversational self-service experiences, knowledge, workflows, and agent capabilities, using deterministic automation where appropriate and bounded AI reasoning where it adds value.
  • Create documented, reusable actions, integrations, and templates for multiple teams, favoring supported native capabilities over one-off custom solutions.
  • Connect portfolio applications with enterprise systems through supported APIs and secure data exchange, including validation, monitoring, retries, and exception handling.
  • Improve enterprise knowledge quality with content owners and implement permissions-aware retrieval grounded in authoritative information.
  • Configure least-privilege roles, integration identities, and secrets management; support access reviews and audit evidence while preserving segregation of duties, especially for HR and payroll processes.
  • Evaluate and govern AI-enabled solutions before release by testing workflow correctness, response quality, permissions, and failure scenarios; monitor quality and adoption in production without exposing sensitive data.
  • Build human approval into sensitive actions, maintain audit trails, and provide a way to suspend faulty automation.
  • Establish productivity baselines with business owners and measure cycle time, hours released, adoption, and rework, distinguishing capacity released from realized savings.
  • Own production reliability for platform capabilities and integrations; use logs, alerts, and root-cause analysis to reduce recurring failures.
  • Monitor task completion, self-service resolution, and latency; automate regression testing, maintain source control, document runbooks, and participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Maintain application inventory, dependencies, license usage, and renewal dates; recommend application consolidation or retirement based on usage, cost, and business value.
  • Coordinate portfolio recommendations with application owners, Finance, Procurement, and vendors.
  • Mentor peers, review technical designs, and establish reusable standards for testing, integrations, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Use approved AI tools in engineering and review generated output; evaluate emerging AI capabilities and recommend roadmap improvements based on business value.
  • Provide user guidance and knowledge transfer.
