About The Position

Western National is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist to join our team! The individual in this role will have the opportunity to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex and large-exposure Workers’ Compensation insurance claims while serving as a technical consultant and subject matter expert for business partners and fellow claims professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and resolves Workers’ Compensation claims as assigned.
  • Handles complex and large-exposure Workers’ Compensation claims.
  • Ensures customer service excellence.
  • Reviews coverage, investigates facts, and evaluates claim-related materials to make appropriate decisions regarding compensability, exposure, and claim resolution.
  • Establishes and reviews appropriate reserves for each claim based on thorough investigation, evaluation, and jurisdictional expertise.
  • Maintains accurate reports and documentation to ensure claim status is clearly documented at all times.
  • Provides direction to outside resources.
  • Serves as a technical consultant and subject matter expert to business partners and other claims representatives.
  • Makes decisions guided by general instructions and practices requiring interpretation.
  • Makes decisions automatically on routine issues.
  • Recognizes problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent.
  • Finds solutions using a systematic, multi-step approach.
  • Develops improvements and innovations that enhance performance and claim outcomes.
  • Maintains regular contact with customers, including policyholders, claimants, and agents, as well as employees across the organization.
  • Maintains regular contact with outside vendors.
  • Occasional travel for client visits, education or training activities as required.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
