About The Position

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Senior Work Management Engineer to own and evolve our enterprise-wide work management platform. This is a unique opportunity to shape how teams across Scripps collaborate, deliver services, and drive operational excellence. As the technical owner of our Atlassian platform ecosystem, you'll partner with business and technology leaders to design solutions that unify IT Service Management, project delivery, workflow automation, and strategic prioritization. You'll translate complex requirements into elegant, scalable configurations that improve efficiency, drive adoption, and deliver measurable business value across our diverse media and technology operations.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
  • Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred
  • Deep hands-on experience administering and configuring Atlassian solutions, and all related platform capabilities.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable workflows, configurations, automations, and technical solutions.
  • Strong understanding of ITSM principles and experience supporting incident, change, request, problem, and service delivery processes.
  • Experience implementing integrations, APIs, automation frameworks, and connected solutions that improve operational efficiency and data quality.
  • Ability to develop dashboards, metrics, reporting, and performance insights that drive data-informed decision making.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, solve complex problems, drive adoption, and continuously improve platform capabilities and user experience.
  • Familiarity with GitLab, pipeline integrations, DevOps toolchains, Marketplace apps, REST APIs, scripting, and integration platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage reporting/BI tools, advanced work-management analytics, server-to-cloud or instance consolidation migrations, agile/PMO practices to partner effectively with diverse business stakeholders including media, programming, or marketing.
  • Strong process enablement skills with the ability to translate real world workflows into scalable, maintainable enterprise workflows.

  • Atlassian certification and/or ITIL 4 Foundation or higher preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical owner of Scripps' enterprise Atlassian platform, and all related capabilities.
  • Design, configure, maintain, and continuously improve platform functionality to support business and technology operations.
  • Design and optimize workflows, service management processes, and governance practices that support incident, request, problem, change, release, and work management across the organization.
  • Work directly with business and technology teams to understand requirements, translate processes into scalable solutions, and ensure the platform delivers measurable business value.
  • Maintain platform standards, security, permissions, data quality, configuration management, documentation, and lifecycle governance to ensure a scalable and sustainable environment.
  • Develop and support automation, integration, and emerging platform capabilities that improve efficiency, data quality, user experience, and enterprise-wide connectivity.
  • Create dashboards, metrics, and reporting solutions that provide insight into platform performance, service delivery, operational effectiveness, and organizational outcomes.
  • Support onboarding, training, documentation, and best practices to drive adoption, consistency, and effective use of the platform across the enterprise.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external implementation partners to identify opportunities for consolidation, process improvement, self-service, AI enablement, and long-term platform maturity.
