About The Position

Peraton is seeking a Senior Windows Systems Administrator to join their team on the Department of State (DOS) Bureau of Diplomatic Technology (DT) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) program. This program focuses on IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize legacy networks, applications, and databases that support consular applications and services globally. The role involves supporting the client’s Microsoft environments, tracking problems, monitoring performance, and performing system upgrades. The administrator will also participate in technology planning, new technology initiatives, and engineering to optimize the client network. Collaboration in a multi-team troubleshooting environment for critical incidents is expected, along with maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and service records. Team members on this program are expected to be flexible, manage multiple tasks, drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment, possess strong communication skills for technical documentation, and transition between self-direction and teamwork. Effective collaboration with government customers and cross-functional contract teams is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and 12 years of experience or a Masters degree and 10 years of experience or an Associates degree and 14 years of experience or a High School diploma/equivalent and 16 years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET Government Security Clearance.
  • 10 years of experience administering, configuring, troubleshooting Windows Server class systems to include Server versions 2016-2025.
  • 7 years of experience administering, configuring, troubleshooting Microsoft Active Directory, to include group policies, DNS, and domain controller management.
  • 3 years of experience utilizing scripting languages (PowerShell/VB) to automate system administration tasks.
  • Certification in Microsoft Windows technologies or any equivalent combination of training, certification, and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Knowledge of configuration management and deployment processes.
  • Working knowledge of government IT security and best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience administering and supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments, including Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows 11 workstations in an enterprise environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP administration.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automation scripts using Windows PowerShell and/or VBScript.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project to support project planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, process flows, and infrastructure diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
  • Experience supporting enterprise Microsoft infrastructure in a federal government or large enterprise environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive guidance from the Windows Support Team lead and Program Management to support the client’s Microsoft environments.
  • Track significant problems, monitor performance, and perform upgrades to systems as required with the proper change control approvals.
  • Participate in long- and short-range technology planning and new technologies initiatives and engineering to advance and optimize the client network.
  • Work in a collaborative multi-team troubleshooting environment for critical incidents.
  • Maintain documentation regarding system configurations, procedures, and service records related to system changes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by managing multiple tasks and re-prioritizing tasks – often to meet tight and periodically changing deadlines.
  • Drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leverage strong written and verbal communications skills to prepare and present technical documentation to audiences with different levels of technical knowledge.
  • Transition seamlessly between being self-directed with limited supervision to being a team player who takes direction from others.
  • Collaborate effectively with government customers and cross-functional contract teams.
