About The Position

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Senior Windows System Administrator to support a major national laboratory. This role involves monitoring, maintaining, and repairing physical and virtual server systems, resolving technical issues, and applying system patches and configuration changes. The administrator will also perform capacity analysis, assist users, develop maintenance procedures and automation scripts, and collaborate with various stakeholders to optimize systems.

Requirements

  • BS/BA or related field and two (2) years related experience or in lieu of degree 8 years of related work experience
  • Must be US Citizen
  • DOE Q Clearance Minimum to start and ability to maintain DOE Q Clearance with Reciprocity.
  • Windows System Administration experience for at least 2 years
  • System Administration experience on desktop systems
  • End-User Application Support
  • System Setup

  • Network Configuration
  • Application Hosting
  • Experience with both Ruby & Python
  • Developing scripts for automating services tasks
  • Experience with Data Storage Systems (such as NetApp) and associated technologies: SAN, NAS, RAID, LUNs, Snapshots, Replication, etc.
  • Familiarity with Firewall technology & management of private LANs/networks
  • Server room management (e.g. - power, cooling, cabling, racking)
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to include Team Leadership skills
  • Experience with working with stand-alone LAN environments
  • Knowledge of backup and restore technologies
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other IT professionals
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with C/C++, and/or other programming languages
  • Experience with quality assurance testing
  • Experience in Virtual/Cloud Deployments

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and repair physical and virtual server systems.
  • Resolve technical issues affecting hardware, operating systems, or applications.
  • Apply operating system or application patches, install or replace hardware, and implement configuration changes to improve or restore system performance.
  • Perform system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Assist users in accessing and using business systems.
  • Develop instructions and procedures for system maintenance.
  • Create scripts to automate monitoring and repair tasks.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks.
  • Collaborate with customers, subject matter experts, and architects to analyze, evaluate, and optimize systems.
  • Contribute to process development and system improvement efforts.
