We then bring those commercially tested solutions to government entities to deliver predictable, measurable impact for the American taxpayer and consumer. rockITdata is seeking a Senior Windows System Administrator to design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure environments. This role requires expertise in Windows Server administration along with hands-on experience in container platforms such as OpenShift and Kubernetes, and virtualization technologies. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining system reliability, performance, and security across hybrid environments. This role is 100% onsite to start (8:00am - 4:30pm CST), and may transition to a hybrid role after training is complete.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of experience in Windows system administration
  • Strong expertise in: Windows Server administration Active Directory & Group Policy PowerShell scripting
  • Hands-on experience with: Kubernetes Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V)
  • Experience with system monitoring tools and backup solutions.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, load balancing).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering or related technical discipline and 5+ years’ work experience.
  • Eight (8) years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education (13 years total).
  • Ability to pass a Tier 2/Moderate Background Investigation (Public Trust).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Red Hat or Kubernetes certifications (e.g., CKA, OpenShift Administrator).

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and IIS.
  • Design and support virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerized applications using Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Automate system administration tasks using PowerShell and scripting tools.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and application teams to support CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices, patch management, and compliance standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex system, network, and application issues.
  • Maintain system documentation, procedures, and configurations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior administrators.
