About The Position

Wood is currently recruiting for an Senior Wells Engineer to support our Consulting business in Houston, TX. This is a contract position, on call as needed with an expected duration of 12 months. Due to the nature of the position, we will consider qualified local candidates only at this time. The Senior Wells Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the objectives of the Subsurface Group and its Customers are performed to a satisfactory high standard and that specific work tasks are performed safely, effectively and in compliance with the specified objectives. As such, he/she shall be viewed as a technical expert and a focal point for the Customer, Contractor(s), Suppliers/Vendors and other internal department(s). Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood, now or in the future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 15 years applicable experience in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in drilling operations and well engineering for onshore and offshore settings
  • Demonstrated industry leadership experience a strong asset
  • Advanced expertise with well design softwares
  • Expertise in various types of completion technologies and strategies
  • Demonstrated Technical and Team Leadership skills
  • Excellent Analytical and Organizational skills
  • An understanding of Subsurface Geology and its impact on well and completions design
  • Strong Written and Oral Communication capability required
  • Detailed understanding of well permitting requirements
  • Must be a US citizen or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed plans and schematics for drilling operations, including well design, casing, tubing programs, and materials selection for wells in a variety of industries, including oil & gas, CCS, hydrogen and others.
  • Assist with, and at times lead, procurement of required resources and services pertaining to well operations.
  • Supervise drilling operations to ensure they are conducted safely, efficiently, and within budget.
  • Analyze subsurface data and work closely with the subsurface team to optimize well placement, performance, and successful delivery.
  • Monitor and regulate project costs to ensure budgetary efficiency.
  • Plan and execute well intervention activities for well performance maintenance or enhancement.
  • Assist with, and at times lead, the writing and stewarding of well permits
  • Engage with clients for the purpose of communicating critical information and presenting on project deliverables
  • Act as an expert technical interface as required for peer reviews, partner’s meetings, etc.
  • Mentor less-experienced engineers in software, design, and delivery.
  • Comply with the Company HSE Policy and Quality Management System (QMS)
