Senior Welder (Shipboard)
About The Position
This role requires a Senior Welder with experience in 7018 stick carbon steel and stainless (SMAW) & (FCAW) carbon steel and stainless. The welder will apply basic welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair metal parts. Responsibilities include working from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders, laying out and marking points on parts, positioning pieces for welding, and inspecting completed work for conformance to specifications. The position also involves providing guidance and work leadership to less-experienced welders and may include serving as a team leader. All work must be performed in accordance with established safety procedures.
Requirements
- Requires welding experience: 7018 stick carbon steel and stainless (SMAW) & (FCAW) carbon steel and stainless.
- 3 + years of related experience.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3-5 years of related welding experience.
Nice To Haves
- Technical or vocational training preferred.
- One or more professional certifications may be required, depending upon job assignment.
Responsibilities
- Applies basic welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.
- Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts or work orders.
- Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.
- Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications.
- Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced welders.
- May serve as a team leader.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
