About The Position

As a Senior Web Developer at Buildertrend, you’ll help shape the digital experiences that connect residential construction professionals with the tools they need to build more efficiently and profitably. You’ll own meaningful web initiatives from technical strategy through deployment and measurement, while serving as a trusted technical partner to Marketing, Design, Analytics, Revenue Operations and Product Engineering. Your work will improve the performance, reliability, accessibility and security of Buildertrend’s public-facing websites and the customer journeys they support. Success in this role means the Web team is trusted to solve problems, make sound technical decisions and create web experiences that help builders spend less time on paperwork and more time growing their businesses.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, web development or a related field, or equivalent professional experience required.
5+ years of professional web or software development experience, including hands-on work supporting production applications required.
Prior experience supporting B2B SaaS websites in strongly preferred.
Deep experience building and maintaining WordPress applications with PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
Experience developing custom WordPress themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks and reusable components.
Experience with modern JavaScript development, including React.
Experience evaluating or migrating CMS platforms and web architectures, including headless or decoupled approaches.
Experience implementing automated testing with Playwright or a comparable tool.
Working knowledge of SQL, REST APIs, webhooks and third-party integrations.
Strong understanding of web performance, data privacy, security and accessibility standards, including OWASP, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and WCAG.
Ability to take an ambiguous problem, evaluate the options and recommend a pragmatic path forward, and mentor others along the way.

Responsibilities

Partner with marketing, design, Revenue Operations and other stakeholders to understand business needs and turn them into thoughtful technical solutions.
Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain functionality across Buildertrend’s public-facing websites.
Own complex web initiatives from discovery and technical planning through implementation, deployment, measurement and continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks, reusable components and integrations using PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
Help shape Buildertrend’s web architecture by evaluating CMS platforms and traditional, decoupled and headless approaches against business needs, scalability, maintainability and long-term strategy.
Keep high-traffic, business-critical websites fast, secure, accessible and protected from bot and crawler abuse.
Monitor site health, investigate production issues and own incidents through resolution.
Build automated tests with tools such as Playwright to protect critical customer journeys.
Make sure lead-generation paths, including forms, APIs, webhooks and integrations, work accurately.
Lead code reviews and mentor other developers.
Use Claude or other cutting-edge AI tools as a part of how you build to accelerate problem solving and improve development efficiency while still applying critical thinking, and owning the quality of your final work.
