About The Position

Abramson Labor Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior WCAB Paralegal to join their growing legal team. This senior-level role is ideal for a detail-oriented paralegal with deep knowledge of Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) procedures who is ready to take on a leadership position. The Senior WCAB Paralegal will play a pivotal role in supporting team operations, mentoring staff, ensuring quality control, and maintaining seamless case management from inception to resolution. This position is available as an onsite or hybrid arrangement, offering flexibility while maintaining strong team collaboration.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a WCAB paralegal or in a comparable workers' compensation legal support role.
  • Thorough knowledge of California workers' compensation law, WCAB procedures, and EAMS filing requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-volume caseloads with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients, opposing counsel, board staff, and internal teams.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal certificate or Associate's/Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory, team lead capacity within a workers' compensation or personal injury firm.
  • Familiarity with ALG internal systems and workflows (or ability to learn quickly).
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the manager in overseeing and supporting the team's daily operations to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Serve as the first line of support for team member questions, concerns, and issues as they arise, providing timely and effective guidance.
  • Train, onboard, and mentor new team members on WCAB procedures, internal systems, and ALG best practices.
  • Ensure case assignments are distributed evenly and equitably among team members to maintain a balanced workload.
  • Step into any team member role as needed to maintain continuity of operations during absences or peak periods.
  • Engage professionally with defendants, opposing counsel, the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, internal ALG staff, and clients regarding all WCAB filings and case-related matters.
  • Conduct daily case audits to ensure quality assurance, accuracy, and completeness of all case documentation and filings.
  • Ensure all cases are in full compliance with applicable WCAB rules and regulations, are being handled appropriately, and are progressing on a timely basis.
  • Monitor critical deadlines, hearing dates, and filing requirements to proactively prevent delays or lapses in compliance.
  • Review and manage electronic filings through EAMS (Electronic Adjudication Management System) and related WCAB platforms.
  • Prepare and update the weekly metrics report, tracking team performance, case volume, filing activity, and other key performance indicators.
  • Identify trends, bottlenecks, or concerns reflected in metrics and communicate findings to management with actionable recommendations.
