About The Position

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP (WRA) is seeking an experienced Senior Water Resources Engineer for their Mechanicsburg, PA office. WRA, a company with over 110 years of history, focuses on 'People Focused and Project Driven' and is known for its quality work and employees. This role involves designing infrastructure and buildings that improve the world. The clientele includes state and local agencies such as PennDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, and numerous PA municipalities. The candidate will collaborate with other WRA offices on projects in different regions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 16+ years of hydrology/hydraulics/drainage/SWM/ESC design experience.
  • Licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain within 6 months through comity.
  • Experience designing drainage, stormwater management systems/BMP’s, erosion and sediment pollution controls; and preparing contract documents.
  • Strong knowledge of PennDOT/PA Turnpike specifications, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience with H/H design software including HY-8, NRCS (TR-55/TR-20); HydroCAD, StreamStats, HEC-RAS, et. al.
  • Hands-on experience with MicroStation CADD software.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineering staff.
  • Excellent reputation as an engineering professional and project manager.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on PennDOT projects is required.
  • Experience with the PA Turnpike or PA municipalities is a plus.
  • Understanding of 3D design, including OpenRoads Designer, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrologic/hydraulic (H/H) studies and drainage design.
  • Perform stormwater management (SWM) and erosion/sediment control (ESC) design, primarily for transportation projects.
  • Develop environmental permits and contract documents.
  • Conduct quality control/peer reviews.
  • Provide marketing and business development support.
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff.
