Senior Waste Management Specialist Energy
About The Position
We are seeking a Senior Waste Management Specialist Energy, to join our team in our Oak Ridge, TN office. Your role involves stopping work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk. You will comply with DOT regulations, EPA regulations and DOE Orders as applicable. You will review existing procedures and prepare revisions and checklist updates to incorporate regulatory requirements and changes as well as customer driven revisions. You will make waste packaging determinations, perform marking, labeling, and placarding determinations, and calculate radionuclide and other hazardous material inventories for packages and conveyance. You will provide guidance and oversight for loading, handling, segregation, and securement of loads. You will prepare shipping papers/records and waste manifests in accordance with state and federal regulations. You will interface with onsite and offsite treatment, storage and disposal units for acceptance of various waste streams for treatment and/or disposal including development of waste profiles and related documentation. You will team and interface with treatment, storage, disposal, generators and/or other customers and regulators to resolve specific waste management related concerns. You will be responsible for total asset visibility of all waste and shipment containers and maintain a drum inventory database. You will anticipate requirements and order required items for waste management. You will support Operations with all waste management, RCRA, and thorium product shipment activities. You will work under general supervision and support the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions and the Isotek Safety Culture. You will perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering or related Science degree required or equivalent experience.
- Q Clearance or the ability to obtain a Q Clearance.
- Requires ten (10) years’ experience conducting onsite waste shipping manifests and waste characterization.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, verbal and written skills.
- Detailed knowledge of state and federal transportation and environmental regulations (WAC, FMSCA, RCRA, CERLA, and TSCA).
- Organized and disciplines approach to documentation, development, maintenance and tracking of waste activities.
- Proficiency with eMWaste database.
- Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
- U.S. citizenship required for Isotek Systems, LLC, project positions.
- Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
