About The Position

Warehouse Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. This includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management, as well as demand, supply, and manufacturing planning. Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. It is also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers. The Associate II, Warehouse Ops assists on Inbound or Outbound activities as requested by the Warehouse Supervisor, meeting quality, safety, productivity, and operational standards. This job receives products in the Inbound section. As far as the outbound section, this job ships products. Responsible for receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, and delivery functions. Responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products. Unloads trucks in the Inbound section by using a pallet jack or equivalent devices to put pallets out of the trucks. Uses appropriate WMS. If working with specialty products, must follow regulations to store refrigerated products. Stores products in warehouse locations using an order picker or other devices. Picks products from warehouse locations and loads into outbound trucks.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfort working with heights 20-30 ft regularly
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift
  • Ability to follow direction and change priorities
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains inventory accuracy by managing product holds, product movements, physical returns, purchasing of products and automated tracking of inventory.
  • Drives efficient picking and replenishment by profiling products to determine the best slotting, based on weights and measures, palette dimensions, frequency of product movement, expiration date, hazardous classifications and other characteristics.
  • Continually monitors quality and productivity metrics including damaged product, adjustments, shortages, and cycle counts, among others.
  • Regularly communicates with Supervisor and other internal departments on inventory accuracy and quality metrics related to given products or customers.
  • Investigates outbound discrepancies by checking for differences between physical counts and WMS records.
  • Identifies and reports variances to Customer Care team and ensures that customers are shipped variances promptly, and documents all variances and issues in line with SOPs.
  • Should resolve inbound discrepancies by initiating communication with external suppliers and coordinating with Quality Assurance teams.
  • Makes necessary adjustments in WMS and determines implications for customer order fulfillment.
  • May determine proper resolution of discrepancies and other operational errors to ensure that customer commitments can be fulfilled in scheduled timeframe.
  • Promptly communicates the root cause and resolution to the Supervisor, Manager, and other internal stakeholders as necessary to minimize future errors.
  • Works on DSCSA compliance and requirements.
  • Could place Purchasing Orders (PO’s) for customers and tracks to ensure on time deliveries to prevent service disruptions.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to improve operations and mitigate risks in inventory control and broader operations.
  • Provides input into operational excellence initiatives through Supervisor and Manager.
  • Serves as a resource to other team members, instructs Associates on complex picking, put-away, and replenishment tasks to maximize inventory accuracy, is flexible to support daily operational needs.
  • May assist in occasional warehouse audits by providing reporting and answering questions related to inventory control procedures, as necessary.
  • Applies acquired knowledge and skills to complete standard tasks.
  • Readily learns and applies new information and methods to work in assigned area.
  • Maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications.
  • Works on routine assignments that require some problem resolution.
  • Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods.
  • Adheres to all quality guidelines.
  • Works under moderate degree of supervision.
  • Work typically involves regular review of output by work lead or supervisor.
  • Refers complex unusual problems to supervisor.
