This position is responsible for designing, managing and maintaining virtualization systems to include security, storage, networking, monitoring and troubleshooting all virtual systems. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the design and operational support of VMware vSphere environments using VMware Aria Suite (formerly vRealize) or VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including hands-on administration of host servers, storage (SAN/vSAN) and network security/firewalls (NSX).
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience implementing and maintaining Linux and Microsoft server operating systems.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience providing virtualization platform administration and related tools such as NSX, Aria, vRA, vSAN, and vSphere.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience providing advanced scripting.
  • Proficiency in TCP/IP networking and protocols TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DBS, and NTP.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and transfer knowledge as a mentor and technical expert.
  • Ability to use sound judgment, problem solving/ troubleshooting skills and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new products, technologies and procedural changes
  • Ability to support critical systems after hours, nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to conceptualize wide range of enterprise administrative issues
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements VMware-based and other virtualization platform environments and any supporting tools and applications necessary to ensure industry best practices are followed.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert in all deployed virtual environments and technologies and the responsible escalation point for support issues in the enterprise environment.
  • Defines and continuously improves processes and procedures to support a fully managed virtual environment and automates processes whenever possible.
  • Ensures full use and deployment of all beneficial technologies in the virtualization stack, including hyper-converged systems, software defined networking, storage integrations, cloud solutions and management options.
