About The Position

AT&T Global Public Sector is seeking a Senior Virtual Machine Operations and Deployment (VMOD) Analyst to support a US Government Program providing IT Services to US Strategic Command located in Omaha, Nebraska. This role requires a minimum of 5 days per week office presence at the customer's site. The position involves overseeing the deployment, configuration, maintenance, resource allocation, monitoring, optimization, backup, recovery, security compliance, capacity planning, and incident response for virtual machines (VMs). The analyst will also be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed documentation of the virtual environment. A TS/SCI clearance is required.

Requirements

  • TS/SCI clearance
  • In-depth knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or other relevant technologies.
  • Proficiency in system administration tasks for both Windows and Unix/Linux environments, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Skills in performance tuning and optimization techniques for virtualized environments to ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate routine tasks and streamline VM operations.
  • Extensive experience in managing virtualized environments, with a focus on operations, deployment, and optimization of VMs.
  • Experience in managing projects related to the deployment and optimization of virtual environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address performance issues and improve the overall efficiency of the virtual infrastructure.
  • Security+ certification
  • Must attain an ITIL 4 certification within 4 months of start.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or other virtualization-related certifications.
  • Familiarity with US STRATCOM Network & IT Operations
  • Familiarity with US Air Force Network & IT Operations

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines (VMs) to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Managing the allocation of resources such as CPU, memory, and storage to VMs based on workload requirements and performance metrics.
  • Continuously monitoring the virtual environment for performance issues and optimizing VM configurations to enhance efficiency and stability.
  • Implementing and managing backup and recovery procedures for VMs to ensure data integrity and availability in case of failures or disasters.
  • Ensuring that the virtual environment complies with organizational security policies and standards, implementing necessary security measures to protect VMs.
  • Conducting capacity planning and forecasting to ensure the virtual infrastructure can meet future demands and growth.
  • Providing advanced support during incidents involving virtual environments, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of the virtual environment, including VM configurations, procedures, and policies.
