About The Position

Stryker is seeking to hire a Senior Video Systems Engineer as part of our Endoscopy Business. In this role, you will help define and deliver innovative, clinically meaningful surgical visualization and operating room integration solutions. Working cross-functionally with R&D, UX, Marketing, Quality, and Regulatory teams, you will translate product vision into system-level video requirements, architectures, and interfaces—ensuring alignment across hardware, software, and platform constraints to deliver high-quality medical video systems. This position may be onsite or hybrid based on business needs. Workplace flexibility: Candidate must reside within a commutable distance to either San Jose, CA or Flower Mound, TX but is expected to be onsite at the facility multiple times per week.

Requirements

  • Required Bachelor’s degree in engineering, systems engineering, or a related field, with 2+ years of experience in systems engineering or related roles.
  • Experience defining system-level requirements and acceptance criteria, including decomposing user needs, clinical workflows, and business objectives into clear, testable requirements
  • Proven experience collaborating with systems engineering and architecture teams.
  • Experience working across the full product development lifecycle, from early concept and requirements definition through verification and product launch.
  • Familiarity with video interfaces and standards (e.g., HDMI, SDI, DisplayPort, USB, Ethernet-based video).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with digital video systems, including video acquisition, processing, encoding/decoding, distribution pipelines, and/or camera systems, sensors, optics, illumination, and image quality trade-offs.
  • Experience with surgical visualization, endoscopy, or operating room integration systems.
  • Experience working on complex, integrated systems in regulated or highly structured environments, including exposure to medical devices or adjacent industries (e.g., imaging, video, optics, robotics) and knowledge of ISO 13485 and ISO 14971.
  • Working knowledge of requirements management and systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, Jira, Azure DevOps), collaboration tools (e.g. Miro), and SysML/MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo/MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect), with experience or exposure to MBSE practices

Responsibilities

  • Translate clinical, user, business, and regulatory needs into clear system-level requirements
  • Decompose complex product concepts into well-structured system architectures, workflows, system block diagrams, and feature definitions.
  • Develop and analyze product solutions, participating in Concept Phase activities.
  • Prepare and participate in Technical Design Reviews (TDRs), feature refinement sessions, and system walk-throughs.
  • Build alignment and consensus through structured discussions and documented decisions.
  • Define and document interfaces between subsystems, including mechanical, electrical, data, control, and user-facing interfaces.
  • Produce product and system‑level documentation to support releases, and internal alignment as required.
  • Ability to bridge communication between diverse stakeholders (customers, marketing, UX, software, hardware, etc) ensuring that the technical implementation aligns with user expectations and business goals.
  • Maintain high quality systems documentation and decision traceability.
