About The Position

Datadog is hiring a Senior Video Editor to own video projects end to end, from concept and scripting through editing, motion, color, and final delivery. The work spans brand and marketing content—including campaigns, customer stories, event films, and social and paid cutdowns—as well as product and technical content such as launch films, feature demos, release explainers, and conference keynote support. The editor will collaborate with brand designers, product marketing, developer relations, and the events team, and help develop AI tools that accelerate the production pipeline. Datadog operates as a hybrid workplace and values the collaboration and creativity of its office culture.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of professional video editing experience and a reel demonstrating both narrative or brand work and clear, well-structured technical or product content.
  • Advanced Premiere Pro skills, including multicam, nested sequences, proxy workflows, Dynamic Link, Essential Graphics templates, and efficient keyboard-driven editing.
  • High competence in After Effects, including expressions, shape layers, 2D/3D camera work, motion tracking, and original graphic and illustration design.
  • High competence in Illustrator and Photoshop, including creating assets from scratch.
  • Hands-on color grading in DaVinci Resolve Studio, including primary and secondary grading, power windows, LUT and color-space management, and delivery-safe output.
  • Ability to script and storyboard, including writing voiceover, structuring demos, and pitching storyboards before production.
  • Demonstrated ability to make highly technical content engaging through product screens.
  • Active, practical use of AI tools in an editing workflow and a clear point of view on their strengths, limitations, and responsible use without compromising quality or accuracy.
  • Strong audio skills, including mixing, music selection, dialogue cleanup, and judgment about when silence is appropriate.
  • Comfort with technical subject matter and willingness to learn enough about the product to edit it accurately.
  • Self-directed and able to handle shifting priorities, short turnarounds, and simultaneous projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with developer tooling, cloud infrastructure, or observability concepts.
  • Experience filming, including camera operation, lighting, and location or studio audio.
  • Live event and conference production experience, including keynote playback and show graphics.
  • 3D experience with Cinema 4D, Blender, or Element 3D.
  • Experience building reusable motion systems and Essential Graphics templates for other teams.

Responsibilities

  • Edit brand and product video from raw footage to final delivery in Premiere Pro across multiple active projects and deadlines.
  • Script and storyboard original video pieces, shaping briefs and product demos into clear narratives before editing begins.
  • Create motion graphics in After Effects, including lower thirds, UI callouts, titles, and simple data visualizations; create supporting illustration and vector assets in Illustrator.
  • Color grade in DaVinci Resolve Studio, including conforming, node-based grading, and matching multi-camera and mixed-source footage.
  • Prepare, retouch, and composite stills and textures in Photoshop for motion work and thumbnails.
  • Use AI-assisted production tools, assess their usefulness, and provide an honest perspective on their role in the workflow.
  • Deliver versioned cutdowns and aspect-ratio variants for YouTube, LinkedIn, paid social, event screens, and the Datadog website, meeting delivery specifications.
  • Organize projects with clean bins, consistent naming, archived masters, and usable handoff files.
  • Set and maintain the quality bar, direct freelancers when needed, and review their work.
