About The Position

Aon M&A and Transaction Solutions (AMATS) is seeking a Tax Insurance Broker to join their industry-leading team, focusing on supporting tax insurance efforts across North America. Aon is the leading broker of tax insurance in North America, and the tax team is primarily staffed by former practicing tax lawyers. Tax insurance is used to facilitate M&A transactions, tax credit investments, and as a corporate risk management tool, with a significant opportunity to broaden its use in the U.S. and North American region. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and highly motivated to contribute to the growth of this in-demand and fast-growing business. This position is at the SVP level and is commensurate with the growth of Aon’s tax insurance business. The candidate will assist Aon colleagues in driving increased use of tax insurance with existing and new clients and prospects. Candidates should be mid-level to senior tax lawyers with significant professional expertise, an established professional network, and client-facing experience delivering tax-related services. A strong background in U.S. federal income taxation, significant experience with general U.S. tax law and assessments, and the tax ramifications of business transactions are required. M&A-related and/or tax litigation experience is considered a benefit but not a requirement. The position will involve travel to support producers and sales efforts, and to visit clients. The position reports to Jessica Harger, Managing Director of Aon’s North American Tax Insurance practice.

Requirements

  • Tax lawyer or tax accountant with significant experience practicing tax law
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, specifically client facing experience practicing tax law
  • Proven ability to develop tax related business
  • Prior experience with tax insurance
  • Good network among the legal and business community
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of self-direction and sound judgment
  • Strong background in U.S. federal income taxation
  • Significant experience with general U.S. tax law and assessments
  • Experience with the tax ramifications of business transactions

Responsibilities

  • Structuring and placing tax insurance programs on behalf of Aon’s clients
