About The Position

BNY’s Strategic Investments team (SPIN) is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing minority investments and strategic partnerships that accelerate the firm’s long-term growth agenda. The team operates at the intersection of corporate strategy, M&A, venture investing, and product innovation, with a particular focus on financial infrastructure, digital assets, data platforms, and next-generation fintech. The Senior Vice President will play a key role in supporting the sourcing, diligence, and execution of transactions, while partnering with senior team members and business leaders to align investments with enterprise priorities.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate development, or strategic investing within financial services or fintech.
  • Experience supporting transactions from evaluation through execution.
  • Exposure to fintech, financial infrastructure, or digital assets preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities (DCF, comparables, venture-style valuation).
  • Familiarity with deal structuring, term sheets, and transaction processes.
  • Ability to evaluate business models and technology platforms (e.g., data, payments, custody, blockchain, capital markets infrastructure).
  • Solid understanding of financial services and fintech ecosystems.
  • Ability to translate market insights into investment-relevant analysis.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines effectively.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within a financial institution’s strategic investment or corporate venture team.
  • Familiarity with regulatory considerations in banking and financial markets.
  • Existing exposure to fintech or venture ecosystems.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of strategic investments, including minority equity investments and joint ventures.
  • Build and maintain financial models, valuation analyses, and transaction materials.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes across commercial, financial, legal, regulatory, risk, and technology domains.
  • Prepare investment memoranda and supporting materials for internal stakeholders and governance committees.
  • Assist in identifying investment opportunities aligned with BNY’s strategic priorities (e.g., digital assets, tokenization, payments, data/analytics, market infrastructure).
  • Support relationship management with venture capital firms, founders, bankers, and ecosystem participants.
  • Contribute to development of investment theses through market research and competitive analysis.
  • Monitor performance and strategic alignment of portfolio companies.
  • Support ongoing engagement with portfolio companies, including tracking KPIs and identifying partnership opportunities.
  • Assist in governance processes, including preparation for board observer participation where applicable.
  • Support senior team members in advising business leaders on inorganic growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to corporate strategy initiatives such as market assessments and competitive benchmarking.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (Product, Legal, Risk, Finance, Compliance) to support execution readiness.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across SPIN and broader BNY teams to deliver high-quality investment outcomes.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of investment processes and materials.
