About The Position

Children's Home Society of Florida (CHS) is seeking an exceptional legal executive to serve as its Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs. This role is crucial in protecting childhood and advancing the organization's mission of creating brighter futures for children and families across Florida. The position involves overseeing legal strategy for one of Florida's largest nonprofit organizations, advising executive leadership, negotiating complex agreements, guiding enterprise risk, protecting organizational integrity, influencing strategic decisions, and supporting innovation. The ideal candidate will think like a business executive, view contracts as strategic partnerships, simplify complex legal issues, be energized by negotiation, balance innovation with risk management, build trust quickly, and aim to leave the organization stronger than they found it. This role influences every department, community, partnership, and child served by CHS.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Active member in good standing with The Florida Bar
  • 5+ years of progressive in-house or corporate legal leadership
  • Extensive experience drafting and negotiating sophisticated contracts and agreements
  • Experience advising executive leadership
  • Experience managing outside counsel and/or legal operations

  • Serve as the Chief Legal Officer's trusted partner, stepping into executive leadership responsibilities whenever needed.
