The Collier Companies is seeking a Senior Vice President of Accounting! The Senior Vice President of Accounting leads the accounting function for a large multifamily portfolio of approximately 12,000 units. This role oversees day-to-day accounting operations, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, financial analysis and manages the month-end close, and supervises a team of accountants. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA (or actively pursuing)
  • 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills
  • Solid understanding of how accounting systems function, with experience applying AI tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting
  • Experience with Property Management ERP Systems such as Entrata
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Clear communication and a process-improvement mindset
  • Systems-oriented thinker who looks for ways to leverage technology and AI
  • Aptitude and desire for continuous growth and life-long learning
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process
  • Prepare executive summaries and dashboards that communicate portfolio performance, liquidity, financial risks, trends and recommended actions
  • Review and approve community-level financial statements, gpr and variance reports
  • Analyze individual assets and portfolio performance creating financial forecasts using key metrics
  • Ensure timely delivery of owner/partner packages
  • Oversee bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and consolidations
  • Solid knowledge of business models and principles
  • Oversee accounts payable, global cash management, and security deposit accounting
  • Review and approve journal entries and complex adjustments
  • Support community-level cash management, distribution and funding requests
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of how accounting systems work and actively identify opportunities to improve processes through automation and AI tools or beneficial 3rd party products
  • Ensure GAAP and owner-specific reporting compliance, effective internal controls procedures
  • Coordinate external and owner audits
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for the Entrata accounting system
  • Familiarity with partnership tax returns (Form 1065), K-1s, and capital account tracking
  • Partner with Community Managers, Regional Managers, and Asset Managers to improve ROI for Investors
  • Assist with accounting and due diligence for acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings and development projects
