About The Position

AssetMark is a leading wealth management platform dedicated to empowering independent financial advisors. We provide investment, technology, and practice management solutions that help advisors grow their businesses and deliver better outcomes for their clients. The Head of Investment Platform Strategy & Management is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing AssetMark's enterprise-wide investment platform strategy. This leader will drive the evolution of AssetMark's wealth platform across managed accounts, model portfolios, unified managed accounts, alternatives, private markets, tax-managed solutions, and high-net-worth offerings. The role combines strategic vision, commercial leadership, partner management, and organizational leadership to accelerate growth, advisor adoption, and platform differentiation. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Wealth Solutions, this individual will partner closely with executive leadership, sales, marketing, technology, operations, compliance, and investment teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of advisors and investors. We can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of wealth management platforms, managed account programs, and advisor business models.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience driving revenue growth, pricing strategy, and platform economics.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute enterprise-level product strategies.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience influencing executive leadership teams, boards, and external partners.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to balance vision and execution.
  • Ability to thrive in a complex, highly matrixed organization.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and operational considerations within wealth management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in wealth management, asset management, financial services, or related industries.
  • Significant experience leading investment platform strategy, managed account programs, product management, or wealth solutions businesses.
  • Experience owning business performance, platform economics, pricing strategy, or P&L accountability.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale platform transformation initiatives.
  • Proven experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience working cross-functionally across sales, technology, operations, compliance, marketing, and investment functions.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a multi-year vision and roadmap for AssetMark's investment platform.
  • Lead the development of platform capabilities spanning model portfolios, SMAs, UMAs, alternatives, private markets, tax-managed solutions, and high-net-worth offerings.
  • Evaluate market trends, competitive dynamics, advisor needs, and emerging technologies to identify growth opportunities and strategic investments.
  • Advance AssetMark's platform from a traditional TAMP model to a comprehensive advisor-centric wealth management platform.
  • Ensure platform experiences are intuitive, scalable, and aligned with advisor and client expectations.
  • Own platform pricing strategy, product packaging, and fee model optimization.
  • Drive growth across key business metrics including assets under management, advisor acquisition, advisor retention, platform adoption, revenue per advisor, and share of wallet.
  • Develop business cases and investment priorities that support long-term platform growth and profitability.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to develop positioning, value propositions, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Establish performance metrics and accountability frameworks to measure platform success.
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable product roadmaps and execution plans.
  • Prioritize initiatives and allocate resources across competing business opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional execution across technology, operations, compliance, PMO, and investment teams.
  • Establish product governance and lifecycle management practices that support speed, quality, and accountability.
  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement across the product organization.
  • Ensure platform capabilities effectively serve multiple advisor channels including RIAs, independent broker-dealers, hybrid advisors, and enterprise relationships.
  • Align platform offerings to the needs of diverse client segments, including mass affluent and high-net-worth investors.
  • Identify and address platform gaps related to changing advisor business models, economics, and client expectations.
  • Create differentiated solutions that support advisor growth and deepen client engagement.
  • Serve as executive relationship leader for strategic asset managers, sub-advisors, platform providers, and technology partners.
  • Negotiate and strengthen partnerships that create long-term enterprise value.
  • Evaluate opportunities for co-development, strategic distribution arrangements, and platform expansion.
  • Represent AssetMark with industry partners, advisory boards, conferences, and external stakeholder groups.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of product and platform professionals.
  • Build organizational capabilities that support AssetMark's future growth objectives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Partner with senior leaders across Wealth Solutions and the broader organization on strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Serve as a key member of the Wealth Solutions leadership team.
