About The Position

Experian is seeking a Senior Vice President to lead its government and regulatory affairs team in Washington DC. This role is critical for managing relationships with federal and state governments and regulators, designing programs to monitor policy, legislative, and regulatory risks, and advocating for outcomes aligned with business objectives. The position reports to Experian’s Global General Counsel.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in government relations and public policy within the financial services and/or data industry, including significant leadership responsibility.
  • Proven expertise and credibility as a thought partner to senior executives in a publicly traded organization.
  • Experience developing and overseeing a broad range of government affairs programs, including issue management, campaign execution, coalition-building, political action, and strategic communications.
  • Inspirational and visionary leadership skills with proven success leading high-performing teams.
  • Experience with laws governing lobbying, campaign finance, and governmental ethics.
  • Track record of navigating complex political and matrixed corporate settings to bring teams together to solve challenges and address opportunities.
  • Ability to proactively advance and operationalize policy positions through high impact internal and external engagement.
  • Experience preparing executives for Congressional hearings.
  • Strong client service focus, sound business acumen, effective influencing skills, and the ability to manage multi-dimensional projects in dynamic, fast-changing environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize findings, prepare presentations that communicate status, recommendations, and actions to C-Suite.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the identification and prioritization of legislative, regulatory, and political risk at federal and state levels to support business unit objectives.
  • Develop relationships with key legislators, their staffs, and regulators to advance mutual understanding and channel business goals.
  • Ensure coordination with business leaders, legal, and compliance staff to formulate public policy advocacy strategies and priorities.
  • Drive qualitative and quantitative analysis based in economics to formulate Government Affairs messages and strategies, prioritizing opportunities based on economic impact, feasibility, and company values.
  • Identify new data or analytic capabilities to support improved decision-making.
  • Support C-suite executives and business unit leaders in engaging government officials and public policy initiatives.
  • Work across cross-functional teams to develop policy impact and requirements, leveraging organizational expertise.
  • Manage and leverage a network of external public policy lobbyists at Federal and State levels, directing their efforts to achieve legislative and regulatory priorities.
  • Lead public policy outreach and coordination with numerous US and some International trade associations, alliances, coalitions, and think tanks to align resources.
  • Communicate the status of public policy issues to Experian executives, business leaders, clients, and the Board.
  • Publish monthly public policy updates and ad hoc memorandums on relevant policy, regulatory, and legislative trends.
  • Speak at internal and external conferences to build support for Experian’s legislative and regulatory priorities.
  • Serve on multiple internal advisory groups and task forces.
  • Advise corporate communications, investor relations, and community responsibility on external messaging regarding legislation, public policy, and regulatory actions.
  • Coordinate strategies for the development, growth, and effectiveness of Experian PAC, including fundraising, communication, execution, and compliance.
  • Oversee compliance with Lobby Disclosure and FEC reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with Government Affairs teams in other regions on multi-lateral global policies and initiatives impacting North America businesses.
