About The Position

The University of Tulsa is seeking a strategic and technology-forward financial leader to serve as the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA), who will also act as the institution’s Chief Financial Officer. This role offers a significant opportunity to influence the future of the University as it enters a new phase. The successful candidate will partner with the incoming President, Stacy Leeds, and will be dedicated to innovation, operational excellence, and transparency. The VPFA's responsibilities include stewarding and optimizing financial resources to enhance academic excellence, improve the student experience, and maximize research impact and industry partnerships. This position is crucial for the University's institutional vitality and its contributions to the City of Tulsa and other key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of financial leadership experience, including executive roles.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex budgets.
  • Experience advising boards.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, compliance, and audit.

  • Higher education executive and leadership experience.
  • CPA/CFA designation.
  • Oversight of multiple administrative functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, treasury, investments, and audit.
  • Develop and implement long-term financial strategies for the institution.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, higher education best practices, and all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the principal financial advisor to the President and the Board of Trustees, presenting financial insights and supporting strategic planning, decision-making, and execution.
  • Oversee enterprise risk management, compliance, audit functions, insurance, and sustainable business practices.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, inclusion, and transparency.
  • Represent the University to internal and external constituents.
