About The Position

Jefferson is seeking an Executive Leader of the Compliance and Privacy Program who serves as the chief architect and steward of the organization’s enterprise-wide compliance vision, strategy, and governance. This leader will have direct oversight of a compliance department that serves 32 hospital locations, two university campuses, and more than 700 care sites across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this senior executive sets the tone for ethical conduct, risk mitigation, and regulatory excellence, enabling the company to meet and anticipate evolving regulatory, legal and policy requirements. The role is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a robust compliance and privacy framework that spans the organization. The Executive Leader fosters a culture of integrity and risk awareness, driving continuous improvement and maintaining strong governance practices. The leader partners with senior management, legal counsel, and operational teams, to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance and privacy risks to safeguard organizational reputation and operational resilience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • Master's degree or JD required
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership capacity required
  • Advanced understanding of relevant laws, regulations, standards, and industry-specific requirements
  • Expertise in designing and maintaining compliance governance structures and risk management methodologies
  • Familiarity with best practices, trends, and emerging issues in compliance
  • Ability to set vision, strategy, and priorities for enterprise-wide compliance programs
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficient in managing large-scale initiatives, cross-functional teams, and change management
  • Inspire and drive a culture of ethics, integrity, and continuous improvement
  • Handle sensitive information and investigations with utmost professionalism

Nice To Haves

  • Certification such as CHC (Certified in Healthcare Compliance), CCEP (Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional), CPHRM (Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management) or similar preferred

Responsibilities

  • Defines and drives the organization’s compliance and privacy vision, strategy, and long-term roadmap, facilitating alignment with business objectives and regulatory landscapes
  • Oversees the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of enterprise-wide compliance operations, including monitoring, auditing, and investigative protocols
  • Directs and reviews enterprise-wide audits and risk assessments, focusing on accuracy, regulatory alignment, and timely remediation of findings in all critical compliance areas
  • Establishes and maintains governance frameworks that promote accountability, and transparency across all compliance domains
  • Monitors and anticipates emerging compliance and privacy trends, regulatory developments, and industry best practices, proactively updating policies and procedures to maintain organizational agility and resilience
  • Oversees the prompt resolution of compliance and privacy issues, with effective escalation protocols that safeguard organizational integrity and reputation
  • Oversees the development and delivery of comprehensive compliance and privacy education, training, and engagement initiatives for all staff and stakeholders, building a proactive and knowledgeable workforce
  • Collaborates with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to advance ethical conduct, regulatory adherence, and integrated risk management throughout the organization
  • Provides oversight and guidance to a team of direct reports, promoting accountability, professional growth, and alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives
  • Advises executive leadership and the Board on emerging compliance and privacy risks, trends, and regulatory changes, and prepare and present comprehensive compliance reports to inform strategic decision-making
  • Serves as the principal liaison to regulators, auditors, and external partners, representing the organization’s compliance interests and facilitating transparent communication
  • Champions a culture of ethics, transparency, and continuous improvement, inspiring organizational commitment to compliance excellence
  • Performs other duties as assigned
