About The Position

The City of Midvale is seeking a qualified Part-Time Senior Van Driver. This role involves driving a city van on pre-scheduled routes to provide transportation assistance to the elderly and assisting Public Works with maintenance tasks as requested. The position is full-time, non-exempt, with a hiring range of $19.42 – $23.28 per hour. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience driving a multi-passenger vehicle or van preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License with periodic verification by the city.
  • This position will be subject to the random drug testing policy and periodic driver's license verifications.
  • Working knowledge of the operation of a multi-passenger van.
  • Ability to follow simple instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manually assist seniors and their supplies to enter and exit the van.
  • Ability to work effectively with supervisors, senior citizens, and the public.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience driving a multi-passenger vehicle or van preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drives a city van on pre-scheduled routes to provide elderly with transportation assistance.
  • Assists Public Works with maintenance tasks as requested.
  • Meets performance standards established with the employee's manager.
  • Drives van to pick up senior citizens each morning Monday through Friday and transport them to the Midvale Senior Center.
  • Returns senior citizens to their homes in the afternoon.
  • Assists senior citizens to access and depart from the vehicle as well as assists them as needed while on the bus in a kind and courteous manner.
  • Inspects van daily as instructed by the fleet manager.
  • Keeps the van neat and clean.
  • Completes paperwork as assigned on a daily basis regarding van passengers and van daily trips and submits the same to supervisor.
  • Observes all safety rules and traffic laws.
  • Drives senior citizens to extracurricular scheduled activities, i.e., grocery shopping, Midvale parade, art classes, social events, pick up prescriptions, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
