Senior UX Designer

AeroVectAtlanta, GA

About The Position

AeroVect is seeking a Senior User Experience (UX) Designer to establish and lead the design function for its Autonomous Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) Service. This role will define the design vision, standards, and execution for how operators, customers, and internal teams interact with AeroVect's products. The primary focus will be on Fleet Operations, encompassing interfaces for remote assistance, dispatch, and fleet monitoring, which form the operational backbone of the AGSE Service. The Senior UX Designer will collaborate with the Product team to design these operator-facing tools and also set the direction for customer-facing products like dashboards and reporting. This position requires a blend of design skills, systems thinking, and pragmatism to create high-information-density interfaces for critical operations where every second counts. The designer will translate complex autonomy concepts into intuitive interfaces that build trust, provide timely information, and support decision-making across various user confidence levels.

Requirements

  • BFA, BS, or equivalent experience in Design, HCI, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of product design experience owning complex, multi-surface products end-to-end.
  • Demonstrated experience designing operator-facing or operations tooling, particularly for products requiring high reliability and extended user interaction.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing experience with information-dense interfaces, real-time data, and complex workflows.
  • Proven ability to ship 0 → 1 products in a fast-paced environment without an established design system.
  • Experience establishing design standards, component libraries, or design systems from scratch.
  • Exceptional craft in interaction design, visual design, and information architecture.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing for teleoperations, remote assistance, fleet management, or other real-time monitoring products.
  • Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, aviation, industrial operations, or other safety-critical domains.
  • Experience as the first designer or an early design hire at a startup.
  • Familiarity with designing for users operating under time pressure, cognitive load, or safety-critical decision-making.
  • Comfort working closely with front-end engineers and contributing to implementation discussions.
  • Understanding of how to design interfaces that communicate system confidence, uncertainty, and degraded states.
  • Familiarity with airline, airport, or large-scale fleet operations environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design vision and standards for the AGSE Service.
  • Establish design principles, patterns, and a component library for scalability across fleet operations products and customer-facing tools.
  • Define standards for representing autonomy state, system confidence, and exceptions in user-facing surfaces.
  • Partner with Engineering on front-end implementation standards to ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Set the standard for design quality and review work within the growing product organization.
  • Lead hands-on design for Fleet Operations products, including end-to-end design for remote assistance, dispatch, and fleet monitoring tools.
  • Design for high-stakes, real-time operator workflows where information density, escalation handling, and decision latency are critical for safety and reliability.
  • Partner with the Fleet Operations Product Manager to translate operator and customer needs into intuitive, scalable interfaces.
  • Shape customer-facing experiences by designing airline and airport-facing surfaces, including operational dashboards, performance reporting, and SLA visibility tools.
  • Establish a coherent visual and interaction language across operator-facing and customer-facing products, respecting their different contexts and constraints.
  • Partner with Product, Commercial, and Operations teams to ensure customer-facing surfaces accurately reflect the service's maturity and capabilities.
  • Drive user research and discovery by conducting direct research with customers and operators at active deployments to understand workflows, pain points, and unmet needs.
  • Establish lightweight research practices suitable for an early-stage company, including usability testing, contextual inquiry, and operator shadowing.
  • Translate research findings into design decisions and product requirements for the broader team.
