About The Position

Shaker is expanding its creative team and seeking a Senior UX Copywriter to lead copy content development for career website experiences. This role is ideal for a strategic storyteller who understands how to translate employer brands into compelling digital narratives that attract, engage, and convert talent. You’ll partner closely with creative directors, designers, strategists, and client stakeholders to craft best-in-class career website content – from high-level storytelling to detailed page copy – bringing employer brands to life in a meaningful, candidate-centric way.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of copywriting experience in an agency, in-house, or marketing environment.
  • Employer branding, talent marketing experience a plus.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing digital work, especially websites and brand storytelling
  • Experience writing for UX/UI or content-driven digital experiences.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms and content workflows a plus.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities
  • Ability to balance creativity with strategic thinking, particularly for digital experiences like websites
  • Strong understanding of brand voice, tone, and messaging systems
  • Comfort presenting work and articulating creative decisions to internal teams and clients
  • Sound knowledge of SEO/AEO best practices and the ability to incorporate keywords strategically
  • Understanding of user experience principles and content design
  • Ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and user experiences from desktop to mobile, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead copy content development for career websites, including messaging frameworks, as needed, and content hierarchies, page architecture recommendations and voice/tone guidelines as needed
  • Develop and maintain copy standards and content templates that scale across multiple client career site builds
  • Apply an understanding of candidate journey stages — awareness, consideration, apply — to inform content sequencing and hierarchy decisions
  • Work closely with creative directors and designers to concept and translate employer brands into engaging digital experiences
  • Work closely with designers to ensure seamless integration of copy and UX/UI
  • Collaborate with strategists to align content with talent personas and candidate journeys
  • Write clear, compelling, and on-brand copy for career site pages (e.g., homepages, job family pages, culture content, landing pages, etc.)
  • Ensure consistency in voice, tone, and messaging across all career site pages and digital touchpoints
  • Write and optimize copy for accessibility and readability standards (e.g., plain language, heading structure, appropriate reading level)
  • Work to ensure copy supports discoverability, metadata strategy, and on-page optimization goals
  • Adapt messaging for different audiences and user experiences, including desktop and mobile contexts
  • Present copy concepts and articulate creative decisions to clients with confidence
  • Translate complex or abstract employer brand narratives into concrete copy solutions, especially for clients still developing their Employer Brand Relationship
  • Research and understand client needs and talent audiences to produce front-facing content that aligns with brand goals
  • Incorporate feedback while maintaining brand consistency and creative and strategic integrity
  • Act as a trusted advisor on content best practices for career site experiences
  • Partner with creative team leaders to develop repeatable processes for our career websites practice
  • Partner with project managers to meet timelines and deliverables
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure copy is structured for flexible, modular content systems
  • Ensure brand voice is consistently reflected on career sites
  • Mentor and provide digital/website-specific writing guidance to creative team members, elevating overall team output and consistency
  • Stay current on industry trends in UX writing, employer branding, recruitment marketing, and career website best practices
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines without compromising quality
  • Proofread and edit content for clarity, grammar, and brand alignment
  • Champion copy quality standards and contribute to internal best practices documentation for career site content
