About The Position

Simformotion™ LLC, the licensee for Cat® Simulators for Caterpillar Inc., is seeking an experienced Senior Unity Programmer to join our Simulation Development team. In this role, you will help design, build, and improve technically complex Unity-based simulation products used for training and education. The ideal candidate brings deep Unity and C# experience, a strong understanding of large-scale, physics-based systems, and the ability to work across existing codebases and cross-functional technical initiatives. If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you. The Senior Unity Programmer is a key technical contributor on simulation products, combining hands-on Unity development with system design, performance optimization, and collaboration across development disciplines.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional programming experience in the simulation, game, or interactive software industry, or a related field.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Unity and C#.
  • Strong experience developing systems and features within Unity across a variety of technical domains.
  • General understanding of real-time simulation principles, including how physical systems, interactions, and performance constraints affect application behavior.
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software development best practices.
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with profiling and optimization techniques to enhance performance and stability.
  • Experience working with source/version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on time-sensitive projects with changing technical priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with .NET or .NET Standard.
  • Experience with Unity ECS, DOTS, Jobs, Burst, or other data-oriented workflows.
  • Experience working with terrain systems, world-building tools, or large environment workflows in Unity.
  • Experience developing or supporting systems involving constraints, interaction-heavy mechanics, or simulation-oriented features.
  • Experience with large system integration, including enterprise systems, hardware interfaces, APIs, or external software platforms.
  • Experience developing simulation or serious game applications for training and educational use cases.
  • Experience in construction, heavy equipment, industrial operations, or workforce training environments.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including socket communication, REST APIs, and client-server data exchange.
  • Familiarity with mixed reality, virtual reality, or augmented reality development.
  • Experience with shader development, rendering pipelines, or other advanced Unity systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience mentoring developers or contributing to technical leadership initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the design and implementation of complex systems and tools within Unity.
  • Developing and maintaining simulation products using Unity, focusing on training logic, simulation systems, performance optimization, and maintainability.
  • Building, refining, and troubleshooting systems involving physical simulation behaviors, terrain-driven workflows, constraints, interactions, and other real-time simulation processes.
  • Collaborating closely with designers, artists, producers, QA, and other developers to implement features and functionality.
  • Writing clean, maintainable, documented, and efficient code in C#.
  • Debugging, profiling, and optimizing code for performance, stability, and scalability across multiple platforms.
  • Contributing to architecture decisions for systems leveraged across multiple products or large feature sets.
  • Participating in the full development lifecycle, from concept through delivery, in an agile work environment.
  • Assisting in the integration of 3D assets, animations, sound, external systems, and hardware interfaces into Unity-based applications.
  • Contributing to technical design documentation, code reviews, and development best practices.
  • Mentoring junior developers and helping foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
