Trisura is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Underwriter Specialist to join its Professional Solutions department in Toronto. This role combines underwriting and business development, requiring the successful candidate to evaluate, price, and underwrite risks while actively promoting products, strengthening broker relationships, and driving growth within the Professional Solutions portfolio.
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience underwriting specialty lines
- Strong broker and market relationships, with excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Experience in business development and marketing within the insurance industry
Nice To Haves
- E&O/Cyber/Technology experience
- Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary education in communication, business, or insurance
- Leadership or team management experience
Responsibilities
- Assess, price, and underwrite new and renewal business within delegated authority
- Analyze financial, legal, and operational information to evaluate risk profiles
- Structure tailored coverage solutions that meet client and broker needs
- Ensure underwriting practices comply with company standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with our broker partners and other stakeholders
- Promote our products through meetings, presentations, and industry events
- Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to expand market presence
- Represent the company as a subject matter expert within the marketplace
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters and team members
- Collaborate cross-functionally with claims, actuarial, product development, and marketing teams
- Learn new product lines and coverages as they are developed
- Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant industry trends and their impact on products offered
