About The Position
Biz2Credit is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join its Miami Office. The role evaluates small-business loan applications and supports the underwriting process through comprehensive financial analysis, including trend and ratio analysis. The Underwriter interprets financial information to assess credit quality and cash flow and support informed lending decisions. The position is responsible for full-cycle underwriting of assigned small-business financing and works with the Underwriting team and internal stakeholders, including Relationship Managers.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in underwriting, credit analysis, or a similar role is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level applicants.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.
- Familiarity with financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports.
- Knowledge of underwriting principles, lending regulations, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite and other relevant software applications.
Responsibilities
- Review loan applications and supporting documentation to determine borrower eligibility and creditworthiness.
- Analyze financial statements, credit reports, tax returns, and other relevant data to assess risk and make lending decisions.
- Conduct due diligence and verify the accuracy of applicant-provided information.
- Perform full-cycle underwriting for assigned small-business financing.
- Collaborate with the Underwriting team to identify potential red flags and mitigate risk.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and underwriting guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Communicate with internal stakeholders, including Relationship Managers, to gather information and clarify requirements.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of underwriting decisions and findings.
