About The Position

The Senior Underwriter is responsible for underwriting small business, corporate, municipal, and non-profit credit card applications, and credit line increase requests. The role will also support consumer application underwriting as needed. The senior underwriter performs the necessary credit analysis, due diligence, and regulatory review for all credit requests with accuracy in a high-volume production environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or math and / or 3+ years’ experience in underwriting credit card, small business, consumer lending or related field.
• In-depth knowledge of credit, small business underwriting and risk analysis.
• Prior use of automated processing and data base platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of Federal and State Lending Regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a high-volume production environment.
• Self-motivated team player with high level of initiative, accountability, and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Underwriting small business, corporate, municipal, and non-profit credit card applications, and credit line increase requests.
• Supporting consumer application underwriting as needed.
• Performing necessary credit analysis, due diligence, and regulatory review for all credit requests with accuracy in a high-volume production environment.
• Reading, analyzing, and interpreting personal and corporate financial documents including the balance sheet, income statement, tax returns and cash flow statement.
• Applying mathematical concepts to analyze and interpret final statements of commercial clients providing a more comprehensive picture of the company’s financial stability and their ability to repay debt.
• Comparing a company to the industry standard.
• Effectively presenting information to the Bank’s Loan Committee and communicating with loan account officers.
• Demonstrating strong sense of logic and common-sense lending without increasing bank’s credit risk.
• Working closely with Management to establish and maintain an even workflow with constant processing turnaround times to meet service level agreements and goals.
• Providing backup for department leaders as needed.
• Ensuring quality credit, lending practices, policy, and procedures, Federal and State Regulations and Client Relations.
