About The Position

As a Senior Underwriter, you will evaluate working capital loan and merchant cash advance applications, make sound funding decisions, and help Cardiff grow responsibly. You will balance speed with disciplined risk assessment, explain decisions clearly, and work closely with Sales and Operations to move qualified applications through the process.

Requirements

  • At least three years of underwriting experience with working capital loan or merchant cash advance products.
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Strong financial analysis, risk assessment, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience reviewing financial statements, bank statements, and credit reports.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex credit decisions to nontechnical partners.
  • Proficiency with financial analysis tools and underwriting systems.
  • The ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-volume underwriting pipeline while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and timely decision-making.
  • Analyze business financials, bank statements, credit reports, and other supporting documentation to assess creditworthiness and repayment risk.
  • Approve, decline, or structure funding requests in accordance with Cardiff's underwriting guidelines and risk standards.
  • Identify material risks, inconsistencies, and missing information, and document the rationale for each decision.
  • Partner with Sales and Operations to resolve questions, obtain required documentation, and support a smooth applicant experience.
  • Provide underwriting guidance and financial insight to internal partners while maintaining independent credit judgment.
  • Stay current on market conditions, portfolio trends, and regulatory developments that may affect working capital lending and merchant cash advance products.
