As a Mortgage Underwriter at The Mortgage Link, you will play a pivotal role in assessing and underwriting residential mortgage loans, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. You’ll be an integral part of our mission to provide high-quality lending solutions, working closely with loan officers and processors to deliver timely and accurate loan decisions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-7 years of mortgage underwriting experience, including expertise in FHA, VA, and conventional loans.
- DE (Direct Endorsement and LAPP/SAR certifications required
- Strong understanding of credit, income, and asset analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills required
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with ICE Encompass preferred
Responsibilities
- Review and underwrite conventional, FHA, Bond (DPA), VA, and jumbo mortgage loans in accordance with investor and company guidelines.
- Analyze credit reports, income documentation, asset statements, and other relevant financial data to determine creditworthiness.
- Assess the risks associated with each mortgage loan application and make sound credit decisions.
- Ensure all files meet underwriting conditions prior to final approval.
- Stay up to date with changes in industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
- Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other team members to provide timely and accurate decisions.
- Manage pipeline to meet or exceed department goals for turn times and production.
