About The Position

Distinguished is a leading national insurance Program Manager providing specialized insurance programs to brokers and agents with specific expertise in 14 programs. Distinguished partners with a select group of highly rated insurance companies to provide exclusive programs to our national network of 4,000 agencies and brokerages. The Senior Underwriter will have an opportunity to work with an energetic, passionate team that is committed to growth by helping our customers grow their business and building a best-in-class system, as well as a great place to work. The Senior Underwriter is responsible for pipeline management, risk selection, qualification, pricing within the program guidelines and objectives and selling the proposal to the broker. This includes working and negotiating directly with brokers, carriers and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years of Commercial Package (ISO-based) underwriting experience.
• Prior experience underwriting restaurants required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ISO-based rating.
• Property and Casualty Insurance license
• Analytical and quantitative skills.
• Must be self-driven detail oriented & possess strong organizational skills including time-management and prioritization.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• May be required to travel for team and broker meetings.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite restaurants risks for primary package and excess/umbrella lines of business.
• Analyze and evaluate applicants to ensure proper risk selection.
• Negotiate pricing and coverage with brokers.
• Rate and quote new and renewal business while adhering to underwriting guidelines and rating rules with proper file documentation.
• Underwrite and document all service requests for in-force policies within authority.
• Communicate with brokers to obtain information needed to underwriter risks, respond to questions and address issues.
• Gather competitor information and marketing intelligence to identify opportunities for improvements to products and pricing.
• Participate in other company projects and new initiatives.
