About The Position

Hiscox USA is seeking a dynamic, engaging, and solutions-oriented Sr. Underwriter to drive new professional liability business and complex renewal business within the MPL sector in the West Coast region. This position offers a unique opportunity for a professional liability specialist to join a fast-paced, dynamic team writing policies tailored to the specific requirements of the MPL sector. Lines of business include commercial general liability, professional liability (E&O), and cross-sold Cyber. We specialize in various industries including accountants, real estate agents, property managers, trustees, consultants, freight forwarders, staffing firms, TPAs, associations, and more. Risks vary greatly in size and complexity, from start-ups to large, multinational entities. We provide an entrepreneurial climate that values and rewards thoughtful risk-taking, excellence in execution, and ownership.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in professional E&O coverage.
Customer-centric mind-set and passionate about the power of superior customer service and offerings.
Strong understanding of sales principles, presentation, negotiation skills and demonstrate a competitive drive.
Team-oriented, ability to collaborate and desire to share information across divisions and teams to further the overall goals of the company.
Proven track record of understanding and delivering meaningful underwriting profit.
Outgoing, driven, high attention to detail and results focused mentality.
The ability to identify business needs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.
Innate service focus which enables one to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external customers and partners.
Willingness to develop business, with travel throughout the West Coast, including the Mid-West and Mountain States up to 25%, required.

Responsibilities

Underwrite, price, and negotiate accounts consistent with the quality of the risk and according to the company’s strategy and guidelines for the product lines: Miscellaneous Professional Liability Insurance.
Develop new broker relationships and increase depth of existing broker relationships throughout the West Coast region to drive production.
Engage with the national MPL team to learn and teach collaboratively.
Maintain excellent customer service standards.
Consistently exceed minimum quote output numbers established by MPL manager.
Regional travel required at times, including industry events and broker visits.
