About The Position

MSIG USA is seeking a Senior Underwriter specializing in Inland Marine business. This role involves producing, underwriting, and servicing profitable Inland Marine accounts in line with department guidelines. The Senior Underwriter will also take a leadership role to positively influence staff and represent MSIG USA in the marketplace. Key responsibilities include developing agency relationships and building a profitable book of business.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Inland Marine underwriting experience.
  • Demonstrated productivity and profitability.
  • Strong business acumen related to building a profitable book of business.
  • Strong knowledge and technical expertise of commercial Inland Marine exposures, risks, forms, coverages, and market capabilities.
  • Strong portfolio management, production, organization, and time management skills.
  • Understanding of the company’s business objectives.
  • Ability to travel as required for marketing, production, and producer management activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience.
  • CPCU/ insurance designations encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Produces, selects, and underwrites Inland Marine risks within delegated underwriting authority, including construction, transportation, or other authorized Inland Marine classes.
  • Applies appropriate account selection, coverage, and pricing techniques according to department guidelines.
  • Monitors underwriting results, premium, and loss trends within the assigned book of business.
  • Establishes and executes effective and efficient producer and client visits to maintain existing accounts and develop new business.
  • Coordinates with inter-company departments, producers, insureds, Distribution, and Marketing Representatives to ensure high-level account management standards.
  • Enhances underwriting expertise in Inland Marine, including assisting in the training and development of Department staff.
  • Helps develop and implement best practices in Account Management.
