About The Position

The primary duties of a Senior Equipment Breakdown Underwriter include profit and revenue growth for the Equipment Breakdown lines of business for assigned branches. This role involves the management, monitoring, and production of new and renewal (Monoline & ATD Package) business. The Senior Underwriter will establish and maintain relationships with key agents/brokers, customers, and local Commercial Insurance staff. Responsibilities also include handling branch referrals for ATD High Hazard Package business and acting as a resource for Low and Moderate Hazard ATD Package business. Training and education in assigned branches and applicable underwriting centers are key to building knowledge and reputation of the Equipment Breakdown line of business. The role requires collaboration with Risk Engineering to coordinate appropriate activities and services on new and renewal business. Additionally, the Senior Underwriter will assist the Equipment Breakdown Manager in the development of coverage forms, marketing, and training materials. The position requires travel to branches, underwriting centers, agents/brokers, and customers, estimated at 20-25% of the time.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years Equipment Breakdown or large Property underwriting experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a track record of achievement in customer development, collaboration, teamwork, problem solving, marketing, and negotiation.
  • The ability to read complex Risk Engineering reports in order to make appropriate underwriting decisions.
  • A basic understanding of Commercial Property and Monoline Equipment Breakdown coverage forms.
  • The ability to travel to Chubb Branch offices, brokers and customers.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, analytical and strategic abilities, along with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external partners.
