About The Position

Chubb's Energy Practice is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their Commercial Insurance team. This is a high-impact role focused on growing a Property and Casualty book of business, including Package, Automobile, Pollution, Workers’ Compensation, Umbrella, and International lines. The Senior Underwriter will manage a book of business valued at approximately $7-10 million in their assigned territory. Key responsibilities include developing book growth, maintaining strong internal and external relationships, implementing profitable pricing strategies, and ensuring the financial performance of the book to achieve branch growth. The role involves identifying growth opportunities within new and existing production sources, recognizing cross-sell opportunities, conducting agency planning and goal setting, and performing regular broker and insured visits. Additionally, the Senior Underwriter will be responsible for the professional development, retention, and performance assessment of team members.

Requirements

  • Multi-line experience is encouraged.
  • Strong sales and marketing skills along with the ability to position accounts and close deals.
  • Demonstrated success in marketing, producer/book management and new business development.
  • Ability to successfully negotiate on all levels with both internal and external partners and nurture key producer relations.
  • High proficiency with the underwriting process and risk analysis.
  • Effective desk management.
  • Exemplary ability to effectively interact with customers and coworkers at all levels.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with underwriting technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, pricing & strategies.
  • Results orientation, entrepreneurial spirit, business acumen, self-motivation and strong ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage approximately a $7-10 million book of business in their assigned territory.
  • Develop book growth.

  • Be accountable for the financial performance of the book of business, achieving growth for the branch.
