About The Position

Chubb's Energy Practice is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their Commercial Insurance team. This high-impact role focuses on growing a Property and Casualty book of business, including Package, Automobile, Pollution, Workers’ Compensation, Umbrella, and International lines. The Senior Underwriter will manage a book of business valued at approximately $7-10 million in their assigned territory, focusing on developing book growth, maintaining strong relationships, and implementing profitable pricing strategies. Accountability for the financial performance and branch growth is key. The role involves identifying growth opportunities within new and existing production sources, cross-selling, conducting agency planning, and regular broker and insured visits. Strong sales, marketing, negotiation, and underwriting skills are essential, as is effective desk management and the ability to interact effectively with customers and coworkers. Knowledge of underwriting technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, pricing, and strategies is required. A results-oriented, entrepreneurial, and self-motivated individual who can work collaboratively in a team environment is desired. This role also includes responsibility for the professional development, retention, and performance assessment of team members.

Requirements

  • 3+ years underwriting experience within the Energy industry and/or Commercial experience with a desire to specialize in the Energy sectors of Power Generation, Petroleum, and Mining
  • Experience with multiple lines of insurance
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of insurance industry
  • Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Marketing skills-Broker and Client
  • Leadership skills
  • Strong sales and marketing skills along with the ability to position accounts and close deals.
  • Demonstrated success in marketing, producer/book management and new business development.
  • High proficiency with the underwriting process and risk analysis.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with underwriting technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, pricing & strategies.
