Join a team that has received numerous awards for being a top place to work: TruStage awards and recognition Job Purpose: The Commercial P&C Insurance Underwriter—specializing in Fidelity Bond, Directors & Officers (D&O), and related management liability coverages—is responsible for evaluating, pricing, and underwriting complex risk exposures for financial institutions. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise in D&O and Errors & Omissions (E&O) liability, with Tech E&O experience highly desired to address evolving risks related to digital operations, technology service providers, cybersecurity exposures, and third‑party platform dependencies. The underwriter will assess financial strength, organizational governance, operational controls, loss experience, and regulatory compliance to develop appropriate terms, conditions, and pricing. This role collaborates closely with Sales, Claims, Actuarial, and Compliance teams to deliver tailored, profitable insurance solutions that align with the organization’s risk appetite. The ideal candidate is an analytical, detail‑oriented professional with deep knowledge of Fidelity Bond, D&O, E&O, and emerging Tech E&O insurance exposures within financial institutions. They will maintain underwriting discipline, drive portfolio quality, and strengthen client and partner relationships through sound risk selection and clear communication. This position is responsible for handling files/accounts that present complex or precedent setting underwriting situations. The key focus is to identify all risks and exposures, implement appropriate solutions and properly price files/classify risks. This position will also be accountable for collaborating closely with field staff, customers and other TruStage business areas, as appropriate. Serve as a risk assessment resource for other underwriters through formal and informal training and consultation. Framework General Profile and Scope: Requires in-depth knowledge and experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related professional work experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible underwriting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal/external customers.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and planning skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Project management skills.
  • Demonstrated desire to continue professional growth/education.
  • Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer risks and exposures for assigned product line(s).
  • Apply underwriting knowledge, judgment and appropriate underwriting philosophy to determine what information is needed.
  • Review new policy applications, declaration pages, questionnaires and other support documents for completeness of information.
  • Underwrite policies up to corporate retention.
  • Participate in the development, testing and enhancements to underwriting tools and aids.
  • Participate in or lead special projects/initiatives as needed.
  • Serve as a mentor or trainer to other underwriters.
  • Works within a high level letter of authority/decisioning with a full territory assigned.
  • May or may not be a product specialist within the underwriting organization
  • Consult with compliance, legal, product, and/or customers will a high level of confidence and little oversight.
