This position applies and expands underground transmission line engineering expertise, including routing, duct bank configurations, manhole placement, and electrical principles. The engineer designs underground transmission lines for voltages up to 500 kV and is responsible for cost analyses, design criteria, siting and routing challenges, and manhole placement. The role includes physical design work such as duct bank layouts, trenchless designs, cable-pulling calculations, and drawing packages; cable selection studies, bonding schemes, and ampacity calculations; and riser structure configurations and structural loading. The engineer also develops specifications for cable procurement, duct bank and trenchless installation, and general construction. The position coordinates with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components and directs a small project team of engineers, designers, and drafters. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement: three days per week in the office and two days remotely. A generous relocation package may be available depending on location. Sargent & Lundy offers comprehensive healthcare, paid time off, and other benefits. Eligible positions may also participate in a yearly discretionary bonus.
