About The Position

This position is for a Senior Ultrasound Technologist at Arkansas Children's, a tobacco-free workplace requiring flu vaccines. The role involves performing quality routine and specialized Ultrasound procedures and may involve serving as a Preceptor to newer staff or as a Lead when the Lead Technologist is unavailable. Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma
  • Direct - 6 years of experience
  • 1 of the following certifications is required - , RDMS, PS - American Registry of Diagnostic Medial Sonography (ARDMS) - Must obtain within 2 years of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Is an expert Sonographer, and can proficiently perform diagnostic exams as directed by Radiologist.
  • Is able to recognize examination findings that may require immediate clinical response and notifies the interpreting radiologist.
  • May serve as a Preceptor.
  • May serve as a Preceptor in troubleshooting and reporting malfunctioning equipment.
  • Explains procedures to patients and families in an effective manner.
  • Oversees student activity and participation.
  • May serve as a Preceptor in demonstrating knowledge of all emergency equipment/supplies.
  • Ensures that work area is properly maintained.
  • Demonstrates expertise in all areas of sonography and ability to communicate this expertise to coworkers.
  • Acts as expert on equipment/protocols and effectively communicates this knowledge.
  • Assists with service recovery, ensuring proactive communication with patients and families.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
