About The Position

UCI Health is a large academic health system in California, part of the University of California, Irvine. It includes multiple hospitals and a network of ambulatory care centers. UCI Health is recognized for its comprehensive cancer center, Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma centers, and a nationally recognized burn center. The health system serves a large population across several counties through patient care, research, and medical education. This position reports to the Ultrasound Supervisor and involves performing a full range of diagnostic Ultrasound procedures, including basic and complex specialized ones. The technologist will prepare and position patients, adjust equipment, and operate various imaging systems. The role requires rotating shifts and assignments, including holiday rotation, and assisting in the training of Technologist Students. Professional conduct with staff, patients, and visitors is expected at all times.

Requirements

  • Must possess A.R.D.M.S. certification
  • Must have three years experience in diagnostic ultrasound
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • May be assigned to work in ambulatory clinics
  • Experience with Pediatric ultrasound to include neonatal heads
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Competent with the following exams: NICU, Vascular surgery, Breast imaging, dialysis access, arterial upper and lower extremity, carotid Doppler studies, and TIPPS.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

  • Registered RVT
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • A.R.D.M.S. in at least two specialties

Responsibilities

  • Performs the full range of basic diagnostic Ultrasound procedures and the more complex specialized procedures.

  • Operates various stationary and portable equipment and imaging systems.
  • Rotates shifts and assignments as needed.
  • Assists in the training of Technologist Students as assigned.
  • Displays professional conduct at all times in interactions with other staff members, patients and visitors.
