About The Position

The Senior UI/UX Designer will create accessible, bilingual, user-centred experiences for an enterprise digital portal supporting multiple Government of Canada programs and services. The resource will design intuitive, consistent, and efficient user experiences for external clients, applicants, authorized representatives, service providers, and internal business users across a wide range of digital services. The portal may integrate with multiple backend technologies, including Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365, Java applications, Oracle platforms, SAP solutions, enterprise repositories, cloud services, identity providers, and custom business applications. The Senior UI/UX Designer will ensure a consistent design language and user experience across programs while supporting a scalable enterprise portal capable of onboarding new services and technologies over time.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of UI/UX design experience supporting enterprise digital solutions.
  • Minimum 3 years designing complex enterprise portals, digital service platforms, or citizen-facing web applications.
  • Experience designing at least three complex transactional digital services.
  • Experience with user-centred design methodologies, service design, journey mapping, and information architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience applying WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, prototyping, and design validation activities.
  • Experience creating responsive designs for desktop, mobile, and tablet devices.
  • Experience supporting bilingual digital products and Government of Canada accessibility and usability requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams consisting of business analysts, architects, developers, testers, accessibility specialists, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and maintaining enterprise design systems or reusable design component libraries.
  • A degree or diploma in: User Experience Design (UX), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Visual Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media Design, Service Design OR A minimum of seven years of directly relevant UI/UX experience designing enterprise digital services.
  • Candidates should have a valid Government of Canada Reliability Status (Reliability Security Clearance).

Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end user journeys for service applications, registrations, claim intake, document and evidence submission, correspondence, workflow activities, account management, status tracking, notifications, and self-service capabilities.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, user research, persona development, journey mapping, service blueprinting, usability reviews, and design validation sessions.
  • Develop information architecture, navigation models, interaction patterns, screen flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Design responsive experiences optimized for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
  • Create intuitive and accessible forms supporting conditional logic, progress indicators, save-and-return functionality, validation, error handling, and submission confirmations.
  • Ensure designs comply with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements, including keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, contrast, responsive behaviour, focus management, zoom support, and cognitive accessibility considerations.
  • Design bilingual English and French interfaces while accommodating content expansion, localization considerations, and plain-language requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Developers, Accessibility Specialists, Security Specialists, Product Owners, and Quality Assurance teams.
  • Develop reusable design patterns, templates, components, and design-system assets that can support multiple programs and technology platforms.
  • Produce developer handoff specifications, interaction documentation, accessibility annotations, style guides, and component standards.
  • Review implemented functionality and identify usability, accessibility, visual-design, responsive-design, and consistency issues.
  • Facilitate usability testing sessions and analyze findings to recommend design improvements.
  • Support Agile planning sessions, design reviews, demonstrations, release readiness activities, and post-implementation evaluations.
  • Contribute to the evolution of enterprise design standards, digital-service patterns, and portal governance practices.
